Hours

Check-in after 4:00 PM · Check-out before 11:00 AM

The Shilling Building went up in 1884 as the Boss Saloon. The second floor is now a 2,000-square-foot loft sitting directly above La Rambla, and it’s one of the largest and most unusual places to stay in downtown McMinnville.

The renovation is thorough. Teak floors, mahogany throughout, skylights, and exposed brick. The great room holds an open kitchen with an island, bar and table seating, and a Wolf gas range — fully stocked with cookware, china, and glassware. The living area has two sofas, ottomans, and an eighteen-foot velvet-cushioned window bench under four windows looking down onto Third Street. A mahogany library wall holds one of the two gas fireplaces.

The king suite has its own fireplace, a tub, and laundry inside it. The queen bedroom’s bath sits just outside the door, with a large walk-in travertine shower. Egyptian cotton throughout.

The thing that sets it apart from any other rental in town: room service from La Rambla during lunch and dinner hours. Spanish tapas and paella, delivered upstairs.

Practical details worth knowing. It’s adults only — children aren’t permitted. No pets, no smoking, no events. Check-in after 4, check-out before 11.

You’re in the middle of Third Street with tasting rooms, restaurants, galleries, and shops at the bottom of the stairs, and a natural foods grocery with a juice bar directly across the street.
