Alexana Winery

An 80-acre estate on the northwestern edge of the Dundee Hills AVA, founded in 2005 by Dr. Madaiah Revana, a practicing cardiologist who grew up in rural India near Bangalore in a family that had farmed for generations. The winery is named for his daughter, Alexandra. Lynn Penner-Ash produced the first seven vintages and consulted in the early years; Bryan Weil, who trained at Domaine Serene and Hogue Cellars before earning an enology degree from Oregon State, joined as winemaker in 2012.

The site is unusually complex. Roughly 56 planted acres are divided into 31 micro blocks across 18 distinct soil types, where iron-rich volcanic red clay meets ancient marine sedimentary soils. Ten to eleven Pinot Noir clones are planted, predominantly Dijon with Pommard the most widely represented. That diversity produces a portfolio of around 17 wines, including a dozen or more Pinot Noirs each vintage, alongside dry Riesling, Pinot Gris, and a white Rhône program launched in 2013. The 2010 Revana Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir was named #17 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100.

The Gold LEED-certified tasting room opened in 2011, followed by a three-story gravity-flow winery in 2012 and a 7,500-square-foot expansion in 2019, alongside the purchase of the neighboring 64-acre Kinney Ranch Vineyard. Tasting experiences run 60 to 90-plus minutes and are customized to guest preferences. Guests can also access wines from Dr. Revana’s two other estates: Revana Estate in Napa’s St. Helena and Corazón del Sol in Argentina’s Uco Valley.
