RH Estate at Redhawk Vineyard

Redhawk Vineyard sits on a hilltop in the Eola-Amity Hills above West Salem, and it’s been part of the local landscape long enough that plenty of people still call it by the old name. The property has since entered a new chapter as RH Estate Wines under owners Tracey Rogers and Arron Bell, with the tasting room remodeled and the vineyard given fresh attention while the original character stayed intact.

The wines are the point. Bell makes Pinot Noir from old vines alongside Pinot Gris, Riesling, Dolcetto, Rosé, and a Reds Cuvée the winery describes as its Super Tuscan blend, built from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Dolcetto. The pricing is what people notice — reviewers repeatedly point out that a bottle here runs well below what comparable Willamette Pinot commands elsewhere, with one calling a $35 Pinot Noir a steal.

The room is casual and the setting is the draw: a hilltop looking out across the valley toward Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, and on clear days Mount St. Helens. There’s indoor seating, a covered patio, and a lawn that welcomes picnics — guests bring full spreads and settle in for the afternoon. Dogs are welcome and the winery dogs are part of the experience.

Programming runs regularly: live music, watercolor painting sessions in the vineyard, cellar experiences with Bell tasting straight from the barrel, food trucks, and an off-site wine dinner series with paired tasting menus.

Snacks are minimal, so bring your own. Most regulars do.
