ART Elements was founded in 2010 by Loni Parrish, in a mid-century building on First Street that she and I restored together — my full disclosure, since I helped manage and operate this gallery until 2016.

Prior to opening the gallery Loni had just curated the permanent and rotating art collections at The Allison Inn & Spa for her family, and a year later, she invited a number of those same artists to join the new gallery. Many are still represented today.

Sixty-plus Oregon artists are now on the roster, every one hand-selected, every one having lived and worked in this state. Here you can find painting, ceramics, sculptures, blown and fused glass, woodwork, handcrafted jewelry, large-scale outdoor sculpture, weaving, basketry, and assemblage. What unites it isn’t style, it’s Oregon. Traditional landscapes hang near contemporary abstraction, and the through-line is the place itself.

The space is roughly 3,000 square feet across two floors, and it’s dense. Give yourself real time. The entire front of the gallery goes to the featured artist and rotates frequently, with the back rotating too, which means the room looks different every visit and there are artist talks to go with it.

Beyond the gallery, ART Elements consults on art purchasing for residential and commercial spaces at any budget, and will mock up a digital preview if you send a photo of your room. Their artists’ work also appears in tasting rooms across the valley, including Penner-Ash, Bella Vida, and many more.

One line from the gallery sums up the surprise people have walking in: visitors expect small and quaint, and leave comparing it to what they’ve seen in New York or Chicago.

Common questions

How many artists?
Art Elements Gallery features over 50 artists who all use the Willamette Valley as inspiration in their own unique ways.

How long should I allow?
We suggest anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes! A quick pass-through is always nice, but there are two floors and a lot to see!

Does the art change?
Yes. The entrance of our gallery changes about every 10 weeks to highlight our featured show. We also update the rest of our displays throughout the year. You’re bound to see something new every time you visit!

Can they help me buy for a space?
Yes. Their design team consults on residential and commercial purchases at any budget, and will send a digital mock-up if you photograph your room.

What’s the connection to The Allison?
Loni Parrish curated The Allison’s collection for her family, then opened this gallery a year later and invited many of the same artists.

Where else can I see their artists?

Art Elements Gallery has placed art in commercial businesses throughout the Willamette Valley, including Penner-Ash, The WillaKenzie Estates, and Providence Hospital. To see our available collection, you can visit our downtown gallery or The Allison Inn & Spa.

Where is it?
604 East First Street in downtown Newberg, on the block with Lineage, Velour, Nikki Jane’s, and Chapters.
