Inn the Ground: Yamhill House

Yamhill House is one of three lodging options under The Ground, the Yamhill County collection built by Brenda Smola-Foti around Tabula Rasa Farms. Where Inn the Ground is nine rooms built into a hillside and The Farmhouse is a two-bedroom Scandinavian retreat, Yamhill House is the one for a group with a kitchen.

It’s a beautifully restored 115-year-old craftsman home with three bedrooms, sleeping six. The rooms are named Rose, Lavender, and Meadow, and the whole place carries the warm, unfussy character of a farmhouse that’s been lived in for a century and updated with care rather than gutted.

The location has easy access to both Carlton and Yamhill and the wineries around them. The Ground’s hospitality team will stock the fridge with farm eggs, pastured protein, and produce from the stand before you arrive, if you ask.

That’s the thing that separates this from a standard vacation rental. You have a full kitchen, a working farm next door, and someone who’ll fill it for you.

Guests staying here also have access to the wider property — walking and hiking trails, gardens, farm animals, tennis and pickleball courts, and an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven. Farm tours are available and consistently named as a highlight.
