A small multi-generation family winery founded by Carole and Karl Dinger, who moved from the San Francisco Bay Area roughly 26 years ago and planted a vineyard on Ladd Hill above Wilsonville. Karl is the winemaker. Their first release, from the 2004 vintage, established a reputation for big reds.
The estate vineyard covers close to 17 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc, supplemented with fruit purchased from eastern Washington and elsewhere in Oregon. Total production runs around 3,000 cases, made in small lots of roughly 250 cases per bottling. The portfolio is unusually broad for the Willamette Valley: Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Grenache, Syrah, Malbec, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Bordeaux-style blends alongside Pinot Noir, plus Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir Blanc, and sparkling rosé and Zinfandel. Farming uses natural techniques with long hang times and minimal cellar intervention. The 2020 Cabernet Franc won Best of Category for Northwest Cabernet Franc at the 4th International Cabernet Franc Wine Competition.
The Wilsonville vineyard has valley and mountain views from the patio, hosts private events with catering, and sometimes has a food cart on site. The McMinnville tasting room on Third Street operates year-round and participates in the local wine walk passport. Flights there are poured into a shared carafe for the table to divide, which guests describe as a small ritual in itself. Wine club members taste free.
