Scott Vinson found clay in high school and never quite let go of it. He spent a decade as a stay-at-home dad before opening his own studio currently in McMinnville. They are currently building a new studio at their home; old farmhouse at the top of Bald Peak in rural Washington County — the highest point in the Chehalem Mountains at 1100 feet, up above the vineyards.

The work is functional pottery rather than gallery pieces, made on the conviction that art should be accessible and joyful and that beauty belongs in the ordinary parts of a day. Mugs, bowls, plates, all the things you actually use. He lives on the property with his wife Jennie, their son Oscar, and father-in-law Paul.
