An estate winery in the Eola-Amity Hills founded in 1998 by Jimi Brooks, an early leader in Oregon biodynamic farming. After his death in 2004, ownership passed to his son Pascal, then eight years old; Jimi’s sister Janie Brooks Heuck stepped in as managing director and his longtime assistant winemaker Chris Williams took over winemaking, roles both still hold. When Jimi died suddenly during harvest, winemakers across the valley volunteered to finish his fruit for free — one of the defining stories of this community.
The winery produces roughly 20,000 cases across a wide range of labels, focused on Pinot Noir, Riesling, and other aromatic whites, including more than 20 distinct Rieslings spanning single-vineyard, sparkling, and dessert styles.
Brooks holds an unusual set of certifications: Demeter Biodynamic, certified B Corporation, 1% For the Planet, and Ecologi membership. The 12,500-square-foot winery and tasting room opened in 2014, with indoor and outdoor seating, an upper deck, and views across five mountains on clear days. A full kitchen — rare among Willamette tasting rooms — serves a seasonal menu sourced locally and from the estate garden. Experiences range from daily flights and seated tastings to estate tours and wine-paired lunches. USA Today 10Best named Brooks the #6 Best Wine Tasting Room in the country, and the winery has been recognized among the world’s Top 100.
Amity, about 25 minutes south of McMinnville. Varnum Vintners is just up the hill.
