Rose & Arrow Estate is a micro-production Pinot Noir and Chardonnay project founded by the late Mark Tarlov in partnership with Louis-Michel Liger-Belair of Burgundy’s Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair.
Working with Chilean terroir consultant Pedro Parra, the team developed a methodology centered on understanding the geology beneath the vineyard. Electroconductivity mapping, extensive soil pitting, and years of observation are used to identify small, distinct geological formations within larger vineyard sites. Rather than following conventional vineyard blocks, Rose & Arrow’s polygons are defined by these individual terroir signatures.
The premise is that these specific geological formations, and the relationship between rock, soil, vine, and the microbial life within them, can create distinctly different expressions of wine even within the same vineyard.
Winemaker Felipe Ramirez joined the project in 2015 after studying and working in Chile and France. The wines are produced in extremely small quantities, with each cuvée corresponding to a specific geological polygon.
In May 2026, the 2023 Touchstone Pinot Noir received 100 points from James Suckling, reviewed by Courtney Humiston. The 2026 vintage marks Rose & Arrow Estate’s tenth vintage.
