A winery, tasting lounge, and collaborative production space in McMinnville, founded in 2018 by Erich Berg. Berg came from Chicago’s fine-dining scene, moved to Oregon in 2004 to learn winemaking, and worked his first harvest at Domaine Serene before becoming associate winemaker at Illahe Vineyards under Brad Ford and later working at Day Wines, a pioneer of Oregon’s natural wine movement. He began Ricochet with two tons of Pinot Noir and Grüner Veltliner intended for friends and family; restaurant industry support turned it into a label.
Production now exceeds 3,000 cases across Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir, Tempranillo, Pinot Blanc, Grüner Veltliner, Syrah, and sparkling pét-nat, made in a low-intervention style. The Pilot Blanc comes from some of the oldest Pinot Blanc plantings in the valley, gently pressed and aged in neutral barrel.
In July 2024 Berg acquired a former manufacturing building near downtown McMinnville and converted it into a working winery. The Ricochet Et al. Wine Bar sits inside the production space, an industrial-chic lounge with views onto the crush pad and cellar, pouring Ricochet alongside six partner wineries that share the facility. The building also functions as a bottle shop and as a home for young winemakers getting started.
Ricochet donates five percent of wine sales to local and regional nonprofits focused on helping people recover from difficult circumstances. Berg founded the Indie Wine Mixer, a recurring event bringing thirty independent boutique producers together at the facility. The lounge also hosts comedy, movie nights, football, and industry happy hours.
