Summon Coffee

This is my favorite coffee in McMinnville. There are donuts next door, but we grab some pastries from Alchemist Jam and then head over to Summons to enjoy a killer cup of coffee and pastries on their stools.

A small-batch roastery and coffee shop across from Linfield University in McMinnville, opened in late 2024 by Matthew Anderson. Anderson grew up in Sheridan and was drawn into coffee by local coffee shops and heavily influenced by the coffee scene in Portland.

The roasting style is deliberately light, with intentional sourcing aimed at showing origin, season, and the individual character of each bean rather than a house profile. The operation is run by Matthew, and a tight knit crew of friends and family. A production space in the Granary District is being built out toward a 12-kilo roaster to support wholesale and direct-to-consumer sales.

The storefront is shared with Bad Dog Bakery, which handles breakfast sandwiches and pastries — a straightforward pairing that means you can get a proper breakfast alongside the coffee. There’s a patio behind the building. Summon coffee is also poured at Alea and Mac Market around town, and beans, subscriptions, and brew guides are available online.
