Chehalem Valley Brewing

Chehalem Valley Brewing opened in 2011, founded by home brewers who wanted to make a wide variety of styles rather than chase one. The two head brewers own it, and after roughly a decade they moved into a larger taproom and production facility on Portland Road.

It’s Newberg’s only brewery and restaurant, which makes it the default in a town otherwise dominated by tasting rooms.

The tap list runs long and covers the full range: blondes, ambers, IPAs, browns, porters, stouts, and blacks, plus a rotating test batch slot. The Hazelnut Brown Ale uses local hazelnuts. Ciders and non-alcoholic seltzers rotate through too.

The kitchen does traditional pub food with fresh local ingredients — burgers, sandwiches, salads, tacos, and appetizers, with vegetarian and gluten-free options. Portions run large enough that people mention not finishing. Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 5:30, with priced-down beers plus cheese curds, coconut shrimp, cheesy bread, hand-cut fries, and truffled sea salt chips.

The calendar is busy: Wing Wednesdays with house-made sauces, trivia, live music, comedy shows, and nonprofit fundraisers. There’s a Mug Club with to-go discounts, free birthday meals, and member tastings, and a covered patio available for private events.

Kids and dogs are both welcome, and the covered patio and biergarten open up in warm weather. It sits back off 99W with a large lot, and the signs are easy to miss.
