Bill Stoller invested in Ridgecrest in 1988, which is how he entered the Oregon wine business at all. The first Pinot Noir harvest came in 1990, and as those wines released in 1993, Stoller joined as co-owner and bought his family’s Dayton farmland to plant as a second estate vineyard. Corral Creek followed in 1995. In 2018, after 24 years of partnership, Stoller became sole proprietor and Chehalem joined the Stoller Wine Group. That same year it became the sixth Oregon winery to earn B Corp certification. Peterson-Nedry kept Ridgecrest and now makes wine under his RR label with his daughter Wynne.

Katie Santora leads an all-female winemaking team. She met Wynne Peterson-Nedry at UC Davis in 2007, got her first Oregon harvest job at Rex Hill through her in 2008, worked harvests in Australia and Chile, joined Chehalem as assistant winemaker in 2012, and became head winemaker in 2018. Her stated approach is minimal processing, letting the fruit speak.

The winery farms four estate vineyards across distinct AVAs — Ridgecrest in Ribbon Ridge, Corral Creek in the Chehalem Mountains, Stoller in the Dundee Hills, and Chehalem Estate, acquired in 2018 and first planted in 2007. Production is 100% estate grown, LIVE certified since 2008, and Salmon Safe. Beyond Pinot Noir, the winery is known for dry whites including the INOX unoaked Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Grüner Veltliner.

The Estate Tasting Room opened in March 2025 on the Chehalem Estate property in Sherwood, a mid-century modern building with room for 178 guests, a fireplace, a tasting bar, a loft lounge, extensive patio seating, and a full kitchen. Views run across the vineyards to Mount Hood on clear days. Executive Chef Becca Richards and Chef de Cuisine Brent Spangler run a seasonal small plates menu — house-made focaccia, burrata, charcuterie.

Common questions

What are the tasting options?

Three: the Estate Tasting with a choice of two rotating flights, the Library Loft Experience with rare cellar selections, and the Hoodview Experience in a private room for larger groups.

Do I need a reservation?

Recommended. The room seats 178, so it handles groups well.

Is there food?

Yes, a full kitchen with a seasonal small plates menu — focaccia, burrata, charcuterie, and more.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, outside.

What should I taste?

The INOX unoaked Chardonnay is a longstanding signature. The Pinot Blanc and Grüner Veltliner are both worth asking about, and the single-vineyard Pinots show four different AVAs.

How far from Portland?

About 30 minutes south, in Sherwood. One of the closest serious tasting rooms to the city.

Is this connected to Stoller?

Yes — same owner and part of the Stoller Wine Group, though run as a distinct brand.
