Styring Vineyards

A small family-owned estate in the Ribbon Ridge AVA, established in 2003 by Steve and Kelley Styring on 40 acres of previously unfarmed land. Steve is the winemaker. The Styring name is Viking in origin, traced to around 700 AD when Styr the Strong left Sweden for what became Sheffield, England, with the family documented as farmers there from roughly 1100 AD onward.

Ribbon Ridge soils are entirely derived from fine-textured marine sedimentary material — sandstone, siltstone, and mudstone — distinct from the volcanic soils of neighboring AVAs. Farming is sustainable and deliberately minimal. Production covers estate Pinot Noir and Riesling alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, sparkling, and both Select and Estate dessert wines, which is a broader range than most Ribbon Ridge producers attempt. Wines are made on site in small case lots.

Visits include the option to walk the vineyard, see the winery, and tour the cave. A newer tasting space replaced the earlier warehouse-style room and looks across the vineyard toward the Coast Range, with patio seating alongside. The family hosts personally — Steve, Kelley, and their son Collin — and the operation is now in its second generation.
