Charlie Garrell has been driving people around the Willamette Valley for a decade, and Oregon Wine Guides is a one-man operation. He’s the owner, the host, and the driver.
The premise is that the good stuff is hard to find. There are hundreds of wineries out here, and the experiences that turn a day into something people talk about afterward — food and wine pairings, barrel tastings, sitting down with the winemaker, library flights — are mostly invisible unless you know who to call. Charlie builds itineraries around what you actually want, then handles the reservations and the driving.
A full day typically covers three wineries with a lunch break in the middle. Every tour is built from scratch rather than pulled off a menu, and the planning extends past the tasting rooms into lodging, restaurants, bars, and whatever else you want to fit in.
The reviews are the kind you can’t manufacture. One guest’s opening line was that words failed to describe the happiness and satisfaction Charlie brought to their trip.
One thing to know upfront: they don’t provide service within Portland city limits. If you’re staying in the city, you’ll need to get yourself out here first.
