A family-owned open-air produce market at the west end of Newberg, where Highway 99W meets Highway 240. The business began in 1989 as a roadside strawberry stand and grew into Ray’s Produce Inc., a Latino family-owned distributor serving Oregon and Washington.
The stand specializes in locally grown produce alongside a much wider range than its size suggests — melons, papaya, pineapple, jicama, yucca, squash, rhubarb, ginger root, wheatgrass, and a full spread of everyday vegetables. There’s also a substantial selection of Hispanic pantry goods, including dried chiles (guajillo, ancho, de árbol, california, negro, japonés), beans, rice, and tamarindo. Seasonal items rotate through the year: plant starts and flower baskets in spring, berries in summer, pumpkins in fall.
Prices consistently run below the local grocery stores, and the market is a longstanding fixture for Newberg residents, some of whom have shopped here for decades.
Daily 8 AM to 8 PM, roughly March through November. The stand closes for winter — the Salem location on Silverton Road stays open year-round. Price and variety. It’s noticeably cheaper than the grocery stores, and the range of fruit, vegetables, and chiles is wider than anywhere else in town. Much of it, especially in season. They also bring in items you won’t find grown here. The corner of North Main and Highway 240, at the west end of Newberg. Easy to spot — it’s a tent. Northwest Fresh Seafood is a few blocks up North Main, and Good Company Cheese is on First Street. All three in one trip makes a dinner.
