Flag & Wire Coffee

A specialty coffee roasting company, café, and subscription service in McMinnville’s Granary District. The business opened in August 2013 and took its current name in 2015, a rebranding that merged Chrysalis Coffeehouse and Mud River Coffee Roasting. Coffee is sourced with a stated emphasis on fair and compassionate practice, then roasted and prepared in house.

The roaster sits just around the corner from the café, often visible through open roll doors, and the smell of roasting beans typically reaches the street. Whole bean coffee is available to take home, alongside a wholesale and subscription operation supplying cafés and homes across the region.

The café serves a full espresso menu with pastries made daily by Ø Horizon Provisions, the catering company behind Loam in Dayton. The maple cardamom latte is ordered by name, and the matcha draws unusual praise for a coffee-focused shop. Food is limited to small bites rather than meals. Indoor seating includes a back room suited to longer conversations or working; outdoor seating opens when weather allows.

The Granary District was established in 1892 and formally branded in 2001, anchored by historic grain elevators including the Buchanan Cellers Mill on the National Register of Historic Places. Flag & Wire sits among a walkable cluster that includes Grain Station Brew Works, Brittan Vineyards, Eyrie’s tasting room, Westrey, and R. Stuart & Co.
