Northwest Fresh Seafood

This neighborhood gourmet fish monger is a food-lovers dream. I'm lucky to live a couple of blocks from them and often venture over for fresh bread and meats for dinner. They also have a small bottle selection from some of the best wineries around. You can catch their inventory on their website for what's available.

A family-owned seafood market and small processor in Newberg, founded in fall 2009 to supply fresh fish to Oregon restaurants. The business buys directly from local, small-scale fishermen and harvesters as soon after harvest as possible, maintaining ongoing contact with them to secure the freshest catch without over-drawing the market. Retail demand followed the wholesale business, and the shop now serves both chefs and home cooks.

The counter carries fresh and frozen fish and shellfish — salmon, halibut, ling cod, oysters, crab, and sashimi-grade selections — with prices clearly posted. Staff will do custom cuts and skin removal, take pre-orders, and pack purchases on ice for travel. Beyond seafood, the shop stocks steaks and meats, local cheeses, sourdough bread, pasta, sauces and seasonings including specialty items like Red Boat fish sauce and Durant and Red Ridge truffle and porcini sea salts, soups and chowders, local wine, and house-made pies available full-size or personal.

Common questions

When should I go?

Morning. Popular items — salmon especially — often sell out before noon.

Can I order ahead?

Yes, and it’s the safest way to get something specific. Call (503) 538-4555.

Will they prep the fish?

Yes — custom cuts and skin removal on request.

Can I travel with it?

Yes. They pack on ice, which handles a drive back to your rental or a cooler for the flight home.

What if I don’t know how to cook it?

Ask. The staff give recipe and seasoning guidance routinely, and it’s one of the most consistent things guests mention.

Is there anything besides seafood?

Yes — meat, cheese, bread, pantry goods, wine, and pies.

When are they closed?

Sundays.

Do they take pre-orders?

No, it’s first come first serve out of their shop unless stated on their site or social media for special events or the holidays.
