Taste of India One sits on Third Street in downtown McMinnville, and it has quietly become one of the town’s most consistently praised kitchens. The cooking here is unapologetically flavorful and robust, sidestepping the softened, Americanized versions of these dishes — though the staff will happily dial the heat to wherever you want it.

The menu ranges wide. Butter chicken and tikka masala anchor the list, but the deeper cuts reward exploring: chicken saag, tandoori lamb boti, and Gobi Manchurian among them, plus korma and a mango chicken for anyone who prefers sweet over heat. The tandoori mixed grill is built for sharing across a table, and the garlic naan comes up in nearly every conversation about this place. Vegetarians do well here — mattar paneer, biryani, aloo and lachha paratha all hold their own alongside the meat dishes.

Portions run generous enough that leftovers are the norm rather than the exception, which makes it a rare downtown spot that works equally well for a proper dinner out or a takeout container that carries into tomorrow. The dining room is clean, calm, and warmly staffed; hospitality is the thing regulars mention almost as often as the food.
