If you’re walking First Street — and if you’re in Newberg, you probably are — Sprinkles of Joy is the pastry case worth ducking into. It’s a small shop, family-run, sitting among the downtown restaurants and shops.
The case changes week to week: cupcakes, cookies, coffee cake, scones, and whatever seasonal thing the kitchen is into. The cinnamon rolls have a following. So do the cake pops.
Baker Kelly Pratt trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Baking and Patisserie and worked Portland bakeries before opening here with her mother Karen. It shows in the work, but the room itself is unpretentious — a genuinely warm little shop where the owners are usually the ones handing you the box.
It’s an easy add to a wine country day: something for the drive to Dundee, or a box to bring back to wherever you’re staying. Come earlier if you want the fullest selection — it’s a small operation, and things sell out.
If you’re planning something bigger: custom cakes, cupcakes, and cookies are available by advance order, and they do a lot of Willamette Valley weddings. Worth an email well ahead of your date.
